Thanks, Sean. I don't find the legacy shortcodes option in 1.5.1 settings, although I thought Tim had referred to it far enough back that it should be there. Guess I'll have to wait till late tonight and swap back to 1.5.3, then try the legacy shortcodes option. Would be great if that would do the trick as I don't have a copy left of 1.5.2 -- only 1.5.1 and 1.5.3 for some reason.

Thanks! Susan

Hi Susan,

Does your site have the legacy shortcodes option set to yes or no. I would set it to yes and see if it makes any difference.

thanks
Sean

ps: the widget thing was a bug as 1.5.1 was very quickly superceeded by 1.5.2 and then 1.5.3 for stability.

thanks

Hmm. 1.5.4 has not been released yet so no idea how that happened. Maybe a bug... deactivate will do nothing sadly. You would need to go into wp_options and rename the meta_key value of ym_sys. Call it ym_sys1 or something so ym no longer recognises it. Then go to the settings page in ym and just enter the info again. There are only 4 or 5 fields so not really difficult. You shouldn't need to change the access control settings so just try viewing the homepage again and see what happens. If it all goes pear shaped then simply rename the ym_sys1 back to ym_sys and it should all be back to normal.

thanks

I have version 1.5.4, If i remove and reinstall without going into the db will it keep its settings?

Or is it best to remove those rows in the db then reinstall? (or maybe just deactivate then activate?)

Hmm no it definitely sounds like it's stuck as you put it. Maybe try and reset it. Or maybe remove and reinstall YM and see if it sorts it. Just bin the appropriate db rows (ym_res and ym_sys) to part remove it and keep the post tags etc..

Maybe there could be another plugin interfering or something but I think it's full post protection causing problems. What version of YM do you have?

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Ive just checked those settings and they are both correct, I did set full post protection to 'yes' yesterday then switched it back to no, do you think the setting could have stuck? Or could there be another reason.

Hi Im am having two problems with pages, for some reason when logged out all my pages give a 404 page but when logged in they are fine. I have not put any kind of restriction on pages as they are free to view. Is there a way of allowing the public (non signed in members) to see them?

Also if i set wordpress to use a static page as the homepage in the settings it works fine for members but again if not signed in the homepage just becomes a mess not even a 404 page. Are the two problems related?

Well, this is interesting. Made the change, but problem still exists in 1.5.3. Does NOT exist in 1.5.1. However, looking at both files, the 'return $return;' line is the same in both so that probably wasn't the problem anyway.

I'll have to do some more thorough testing tonight. I'm beginning to suspect some other conflict somewhere. I'm running a customized version of Tadlock's Hybrid News and belong to the support forum there. I know that he also uses YM, so wouldn't expect anything in Hybrid to conflict or someone else would have had a problem before me. Will LYK if I can narrow it down. We use VERY few plug-ins, but will eliminate all tonight and recheck.

One interesting thing -- every time I switch from 1.5.1 to 1.53, I lose all my text widgets. When 1.5.1 is active, I am forced to use "YM Text Widget" -- there is no other text widget available. When 1.5.3 is active, I can choose from either "Text Widget" or "YM Text Widget" -- any insight on why that occurs? I've never had that arise between versions before either.

Cheers,
Susan

Found it, Sean, thanks! Not sure why my search yesterday yielded no matches; maybe a typo with my slammed-in-car-door finger. Made the edit at Line 1033 in my 1.5.3 version, but won't test it till late tonight -- I've found that the swap between 1.5.1 and 1.5.3 wreaks a bit of havoc with my widgets, so I'll try to flip back when fewer folks are looking.

Thanks!

This problem is looking like the old 'stripslashes' issue from back around 1.4.5. I recently upgraded to 1.5.3. Thought all was ducky till we had a post with multiple images inside private tags. Images alone are fine, but if there are captions, the code is showing. I found the old post relating to videos and thought I'd give that a go but... Sean's instructions stated to find the ym_replace_tag function and replace it. My current YM.php has no such function, so I'm out of ideas.

Help! I've had to roll back to 1.5.1, which is causing different issues. Obviously, I'd prefer to be using the most current version, but need to be able to have captions display correctly inside private posts.

Thanks!

Hi, looks to me like the tables arent created in your database. Can you confirm this for me. The SQL to create them is either in a separate text file called something like ym_tables.sql or in the ym-initialise.php file somewhere. just run the create table code and it should work fine.

Hi Sean,

I'm having the same problem on my site. I've tried deactivating and I've also tried deleting the ym_paypal value in the database. Deleting ym_paypal did reset all the values back to 0 but when entering a new text into the Callback thankyou message and
Callback failed message, neither of them saved again.

Thanks

Well you can use the description from the roles page in the pack names on the register form. Just go to the YM messages page and look at the bottom where you will find templates. Then follow the instructions as appropriate.

Let us know how it goes.

thanks

I know you can modify how the Register page looks by changing the Message information but I was wondering if there is any way to hand code the description of each package onto the Registration page. Or to separate memberships by Ongoing and 1 time memberships. The reason for this is that my site offers both types of memberships (1 Day, 1 Month, 3 Months, 6 Months, 1 Year and then 1 Day Ongoing, 1 Month Ongoing, 3 Months Ongoing, 6 Months Ongoing, 1 Year Ongoing) and other than stating on the site like I do now it looks a little confusing.

"The bottom option for each membership duration is an Auto-Renew Membership. (ie. the first "34.95 USD for 1 Month" is a 1 time payment. The second "34.95 USD for 1 Month" in the list is Auto-Renewing and will renew every month until you cancel your membership.)"

Maybe just use the Description on the Member Rolls page. Just a thought.

Hi Maja, not possible i'm afraid. The status you set is YM only. Paypal has been instructed from the start of the subscription to bill monthly for a number of months. The only way to pause a subscription to my knowledge is to cancel it. I don't think that Paypal allows for the editing for existing subscriptions. Another down side to the processor I suppose.

thanks

Hello there:)

I know you might be busy fixing the PayPal IPN bug (which is not the only naughty thing PayPal did recently but that's topic for another place and time I guess...) but I’ll still try my luck.

I am not sure whether this question is right for this place and I apologise if I’m wrong. I am using the version 1.5.3(developer). It seems that the first subscription doesn't get activated automatically, but then even if you set the member state to inactive, it will still get restarted and activated automatically at the point of periodical payment. So, it works!!! It wasn't just once, it did happen 3 times. Now, I have the opposite issue from everybody else here:

The site XYZ has got a number of members and for reason X (which is quite legitimate) site XYZ needs to temporarily suspend a membership for one of the users and also so _no subscription_ is taken. How do we do this? I have tried to set status to inactive only, but that doesn’t work. I have tried to set the status to expired, that doesn’t work. (When I say doesn’t work – means that the subscription keeps becoming active and payment goes through each period-start). I have tried to set the account to ‘Free’ and inactive, that didn’t do anything. We don’t want to delete the user. Just suspend for a period of time, which might be short or long... How do we suspend payments and make the membership inactive until we restart their account?

Thanks,
Maja
